Who did I run for?
J.C. – Cityline‘s beloved floor director and my friend. Diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
Cynthia Mulligan – Citytv veteran reporter and my friend. Breast cancer survivor.
Aunt Lynette – Courtesy aunt with whom I grew up. Diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
So this year the choice to run was an obvious one. Run for 5k? While my friends and family are dealing with toxic side-effects from chemotherapy or being burnt to a crisp in radiation? No problem.
In fact, it’s the absolute least I can do.
What made Sunday’s run even more rewarding was my running partner. Cynthia and Jennifer Valentyne’s (Breakfast Television, Toronto) daughters are good friends. While the whole gang ran the first kilometre together, Georgia wanted to break away so of course I broke out with her. We chatted and laughed and she ran the whole way. Not only was I impressed with her 10-year-old self…I am now totally excited to one day have a pre-teen daughter who wants to chat my face off. So cool.
