Be the ultimate hockey hostess

As the puck drops on the NHL 2014/15 season, we know many of you are going to be hosting hockey viewing parties in the months to come.

So how do you become the ultimate hockey hostess? Leigh-Ann Allaire Perrault shares a few of her creative ideas on how to score a hat trick at your party:

Encourage your guests to dress up. That means jerseys and T-shirts showing team love — or at least wearing team colours!

Make sure the space is inviting and that there’s comfortable seating for everyone. If you’re worried about spills, consider a slip-covered sofa. They’re much sleeker than they used to be!

Have fun with the theme.  Visit a party store or dollar store for hockey-themed plates and cups, make or buy a scoreboard, and be sure to have plenty of snacks and drinks on hand! May we suggest Randy Feltis’ lobster corn dogs and chicken meatballs?

Make the TV the centerpiece of the room. When the game starts, all eyes will be on that TV. So make sure it’s in a place where everyone can comfortably see the action.

Have parting gifts. Again, this is an area where you can have fun. For instance, Leigh-Ann cut teeth from gummy teeth, and packaged them up as hockey teeth! For more of her ideas on how to be the best hockey party host, watch the clip below.
