Recently, I had the distinct pleasure of reading through the applications that poured in when we announced the 2015 Cityline Weight Loss Challenge. The producers and I were amazed at the number of entries we received. We heard from everyone – working moms, stay-at-home moms, single women, women who entered their husband’s name, women who felt beat up from the weight loss world and women who wanted to improve their energy and health. I also read too many tales of women who were avoiding going to social events or shopping because they did not feel good about their appearance anymore. If you fall into any of these categories – this is your year. This is the year we say (actually shout): “Enough — it is time to bring our healthy back!”

Of the many applications I read through, several common themes came through which were:

  • Lack of energy is a huge issue (which we will be addressing). While our viewers expressed wanting to look good again – boosting energy was a recurring topic.
  • Many women were entering into a new stage of life (i.e. getting close to 40, soon to be 50) and wanted to create a life change.
  • We women love to feel beautiful and shop! I am not kidding. So many applicants mentioned that they were sick of wearing their frumpy clothes and sweatpants and wanted to finally go to the mall and feel good buying something new. To this I say: Amen, sisters! I am with you on that. I applaud anything that makes you stand a little taller, push your shoulders back and put a smile on your face. If losing some weight and a little shopping therapy helps – let’s do it!
  • Yo-yo diets hurt self esteem. Each and every year my goal is to provide our viewers with a hormonally-balanced program that is easy to follow and creates a shift for life. I always say to my clients “do not go onto a program you could not see yourself following a version of for 5 years or longer.” The program we are going to go through together is not a “jump on, jump off” quick fix approach. Remember – we are bringing healthy back. This is going to be a whole new way of eating and thinking about food that is delicious, easy to follow and will apply for life.
  • Many women love their wine, and are seriously craving sugar — especially when stressed. I will show you all how to change that and get control.
  • Most of all – I heard from women who want to improve their health for themselves and their families. Whether is it a history of diabetes, cancer or heart disease in the family or whether it is to get rid of knee pain or poor sleep – our wonderful Cityline viewers who applied expressed the sincere desire to be the healthiest version of themselves.

So…stay tuned for more. In a few short weeks, I will be posting the basics of what you will need to do to get started on the program. For those of you who applied –thank you for sharing with us. We of course cannot pick every person (I wish we could) – but please remember, all information will be posted right here on Cityline.ca for everyone to follow (bookmark www.cityline.ca/weightlosschallenge for all the resources). We will also be doing regular online chats so I can answer any and all questions.

I look forward to hearing from you!
