Relax, Laugh, Eat, Repeat

A month ago we were celebrating one of my girlfriend’s 40th birthdays when one of us mentioned wanting to visit Ste. Anne’s Spa in Grafton, Ontario. I immediately invited myself and the rest of us to make it a girls’ trip. This is how we operate. We don’t ask/suggest we just make an announcement and that is that.

Fast forward to last weekend.

Heavy Friday afternoon traffic on the 401 East, good tunes, junky snacks, much laughter and we arrive at Ste. Anne’s just before dinner. They graciously take us to our cabin. Scratch that…our house. Four bedrooms, huge living room with fireplace, back patio, beautiful grounds, and a hot tub. We quickly decide we are NEVER leaving Vista Lago (aka our house).

As if things could get better, our own personal chef arrives at 7pm and starts cooking us one of the best meals any of us have ever had. Grilled local veggies on crostini, light clam chowder, tender spinach-stuffed chicken, and molten lava chocolate cake. Almost died. Our chef Christopher Mark was a delight and quietly listened to us getting rowdier and rowdier as we laughed and chatted our way through his amazing meal.

About five minutes after we thanked him and he left, we were in our swimsuits and in the hot tub! Three hours later we rolled into bed. I realized quickly I was smitten with this haven. There is nothing as healing as spending time with the ladies you truly love, eating amazing food, drinking excellent wine (BYOB – no corking fee!) and breathing in fresh air. We spent the rest of the weekend doing yoga, getting deluxe massages, body wraps, facials and foot rubs, swimming, eating and relaxing together.

We can’t wait to do it again next year!

Don’t even think about it. Just go ahead and book your next ladies reunion at Ste. Anne’s Spa.

I agree with Tracy’s comments! My boyfriend and I went to Ste. Anne’s Spa this weekend for his birthday. We had been told about this place from a few friends so we were excited to try it out. We were expecting a lot but experienced even more. The staff was very professional and welcoming. We stayed at the Haldimand East – amazing! The food was excellent as well. We used the main building facilities and booked massages and a meditation class. All were top notch and relaxing. This will definitely be a place we go back to time and time again.

Thanks for sharing your spa retreat with us!
I usually visit ste.anne’s 3 times a year but sadly haven’t found time yet this year (frowning).
My favourite memory I have is laying in the hammock listening to the chimes. I had just had a body scrub that sent me to the moon, so bring outside and letting myself relax was where I needed to be.
I always bring a friend as you did- making each visit so extra special.
Shiatsu massage was my favourite.
Love your smile!
