I'm brave!

Guess who didn’t cry this morning? Me!

Weird question to ask, but it was Sidney’s first day of Junior Kindergarten and since I am an emotional ball of Play-Doh, I thought for sure I was headed for breakdown.

But nope, I was strong.

Oh, you actually want to hear about my son perhaps, and not me for once?

Okay, fine (said snarkily).

He woke up nice and early (as always) came down to the kitchen, grabbed his lunch out of the fridge, packed it into his lunch box, put said lunch box into his backpack, put his water bottle in the side  compartment, put his backpack on his back and walked to the basement to watch cartoons.

I was thrilled.

Not just because back-to-school is one of my favourite memories of all time…but also because last night I felt like the only loser in the house that was looking forward to this morning. I tormented over what to make him for lunch (whole wheat mini pita with hummus and chicken), made sure his back-to-school outfit was washed and ready to go, even included a note in his backpack (I know he can’t read – whatever). While everyone else pretended it was just another day (yes, I’m shooting lasers at you right now, hubs).

All in all I felt good because HE felt good (yes, it’s back to me and my feelings. Just deal please. This is a big day for me). Above are some photos from our morning.

And enjoy your day.
