Here are designer Tiffany Pratt’s instructions for three easy DIYs that will take your boring patio umbrellas from drab to fab!
Splatter paint and fringe
Materials:
1 can of rust-oleum ultra cover outdoor paint (any colour)
Paint brush
Cotton rope
Needle and thread
Instructions:
1. Brush and splatter the outdoor paint all over your umbrella to create any pattern you like.
2. Stitch on a cotton rope fringe around the circumference of the umbrella.
3. Let the paint dry and your umbrella is good to go!
Pom-pom trimming
Materials:
Pom pom trim
Needle and thread
Instructions:
1. Find the trim you like at the fabric store.
2. With the needle and thread, whip stich the trim around your umbrella.
3. Open it up and enjoy your new chic umbrella!
Fabric layer-up
Materials:
4 yards of outdoor waterproof fabric
Hot glue gun
Scissors
Instructions:
1. Buy any outdoor waterproof fabric you like at the fabric store
2. Cut the fabric in petal shapes (or any shape you want) and hot glue the pieces around your umbrella.
3. Let the glue dry and your new umbrella is ready for use!
