What you need to know before going to the flea market

Samantha Pynn shares her tips and tricks for flea market shopping success.

Heading to a flea market for the first time? Here are Samantha Pynn‘s tips and tricks for flea market shopping success.

Bring cash: Most importantly, make sure you have cash in your wallet! Most vendors won’t be accepting credit or debit. And make sure they’re small bills and coins, too — no vendor is going to want to accept an $100 bill for an item priced at $2!

Dress for success: Choose appropriate clothing based on the location of the market. If you’re outside in a field, you might need rainboots — otherwise, comfortable shoes are a must. Hats and sunscreen are also important for sunny outdoor days.

Go in with a plan: Avoid getting overwhelmed by all the great items on display! If you head to the market with a list of what you need, as well as photos or paint swatches if you’re trying to match your existing décor, you’ll have better luck finding exactly what you need.

Arrive early: Find out when the market opens and be there on time! The hottest items will always be bought up quickly.

If you love it, buy it: There’s no time to hem and haw at a flea market. If you love it, buy it right away — otherwise, you may be disappointed when you come back an hour later only to find you’re too late.
