Wondering if you can pull off the latest style at your age? Stylists Iva Grbesic and Christina Cravero teach us how to rock some of the hottest trends, whether you’re under 35 or over it.

Dressy joggers:

This style is perfect if you are looking to wear something comfortable, yet still want to look fashion-forward. This is a looser silhouette based on the sporty original jogging pant: cuffed at the ankles and with an elasticized waistband. The dressy jogger can be made from wool, crepe fabrics or soft cottons. They are becoming a favourite among women of all ages because of the refined details but women also appreciate an elasticized cuff and waistband. All items from LOFT.

If you’re under 35:

  • Be adventurous! Wear a bold, bright colour along with your pyjama pants to make an impact.
  • If you’re looking to continue down the path of comfort, you can drop your heels and wear a on-trend sneaker instead.

If you’re over 35:

  • Wear a basic, beautiful blouse with your dressy joggers. This will make the look work-appropriate.
  • Don’t be afraid of colour, instead embrace it. It helps highlight your skin.
  • Keep it simple! Instead of a large accessory piece, wear a very slight embellishment with this look.

Pencil skirt:

Leather or faux leather have been part of every major runway in cities around the world, while perforated fabrics are a key trend this season. Pencil skirts are a universally flattering and key item in any woman’s closet, and if you combine them with two key texture trends, you end up with an edgy and figure-flattering item women of all ages can wear.  All items from Banana Republic and Gap.

If you’re under 35:

  • To add a fresh and modern twist on this outfit, pair it with a casual graphic tee and add a pop of colour.
  • If you have a smaller frame, you can wear a crop top. However, if you are short it will cut your torso to make you appear even shorter.
  • If you are petite, you will want to wear a skirt that ends before your knees, to prevent it from overpowering you.

If you’re over 35:

  • You’ll be standing out in the office with this look because it definitely isn’t your basic blazer and skirt.
  • Pair your skirt with classics from your closet. This will keep it age-appropriate, but still add some excitement.
  • Older women tend to lean towards the colour black, but that can be harsh sometimes, so try to avoid it.
  • Top it off with a moto jacket, but choose one preferably in a blush tone. Choosing a different colour for the jacket is a great way to update a classic.
  • A grey handbag is a great neutral and can be used to emphasize other pieces of the outfit, such as the pink leather jacket.

Distressed denim:

We’ve been exposed to a lot of different styles of jeans over the past couple of years. They can help add flair and can significantly change your look. When looking for a pair of distressed jeans, you hold a lot of power by choosing your comfort level — you can choose how much skin you are willing to show.

If you’re under 35:

  • Because you are young, you will be able to pull off jeans that are more ripped and baggy.
  • To dress it up, you can pair it with a lace top or with a pair of shoes with more detail.
  • How you dress your hair matters: you can always look at the latest celeb-inspired hairstyles to stay on trend.

If you’re over 35:

  • You want to choose jeans that fit you nicely and are age appropriate such as mid-rise pants.
  • You too can pull of a red shoe! It is not only a classic but adds some fun and a pop of colour to the outfit.
  • Iva Grbesic kept her hair timeless and elegant by adding texture to her long bob with curls.
