The best foods to bring camping!

Randy Feltis knows the best foods to bring camping!

Knowing what foods to pack for a camping trip is a challenge, Randy Feltis has lots of space saving and delicious ideas for your summer camping holiday!

Randy recommends packing foods that are pre-packaged and ready to go. During the first few days, your cooler will still be cool which is the perfect time to grill your marinated steaks or kebabs. You can buy these pre-made in the grocery store or make up your own!

The majority of the food you will pack should be foods that do not require refrigeration. It’s important to pack lots of protein, meat sticks and beef jerky are great sources of protein that do not require refrigeration.

To add a little gourmet flair, pack some fresh herbs. Randy likes to wrap a variety of herbs in a damp paper towel and pack them in a ziplock bag. These should keep them fresh for 5 days.

“The first thing that always happens is your bread gets squished!” says Randy, but your bread will never squish if you bake it in a can! To have fresh bread everyday, use Pillsbury pizza crust and bake it in a large can!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but when it comes to eggs, don’t bring them in the carton! Crack your eggs into a ziplock bag and add whatever other ingredients you want – a little milk, some bacon etc. for a ready-to-go omelet! You can’t forget about coffee; in individual bottles, prepare espresso and mix it with condensed milk. Freeze the bottles and use them as ice packs. When you’re ready for your morning coffee, thaw and enjoy!

Pack other condiments in ziplock bags to avoid heavy jars; jam and salad dressings work well this way!
