Sounds fancy, but it’s just warm, spiced up wine. You can even do a kiddy version – simply replace wine with ½ orange juice and ½ apple cider. Kids will love it, and it’s fun to have a kids’ bar too.
Vin chaud (Mulled wine)
2 cinnamon sticks
4 cardamom pods
1 bottle wine
2-3 Tbsp honey
Fruit diced and macerated in the wine – 1 orange, 1 pear, raspberries, or zest of 1 orange and 1 lemon
¼-1/3 cup cognac or rum (optional)
Tie spices into cheesecloth or into loose tea bag and tie.
Combine ingredients except cognac.
Simmer, do not boil.
Serve warm and top with cognac and serve with macerated fruits.
